Shivam studies high pressure, swirl-stabilized, liquid-fuel flames that are relevant to aviation gas turbines. He particularly investigates how a combustor optimized for a hybrid-electric engine cycle could improve the emissions, durability, reliability, and safety of aircraft engines. He uses optical diagnostics diagnostics to study both applied and fundamental fluid, thermoacoustic, and flame dynamics problems.
