Askar has graduated from Aerospace Option of Engineering Science at the University of Toronto in 2016, obtained his masters degree from the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies in 2018, and graduated with his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2022. His research explored the conditions at which significant flame-induced turbulence production and energy backscatter occur in an aerospace relevant configuration, and attempts to identify the underlying physical mechanisms that have a leading order impact on these processes. In his work, Askar used state of the art laser diagnostics to obtain fine scale velocity measurements with sufficient spatial resolution in order to characterize the fine-scale turbulence and locate it within scalar field of a flame. This research aims to improve the state of knowledge in the field of turbulent combustion at engine relevant conditions.
