Aerospace Engineering School at Georgia Tech (AE) faculty members and students recently welcomed NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy to campus for a tour of AE labs. Melroy was joined by Georgia Congressmen Rich McCormick (6th district) and Mike Collins (10th district), who both serve on the House of Representatives’ Science, Space, and Technology Committee.

AE Professors Mitchell Walker and Adam Steinberg guided the trio and their guests through two signature AE facilities that conduct NASA-sponsored research.

BTZ Director Dr. Adam Steinberg and long-time BTZ collaborator Dr. Sukesh Roy (Spectral Energies) have co-edited an extensive volume on "Optical Diagnostics for Reacting and Non-Reacting Flows: Theory and Practice." At over 1300 pages and 18 chapters, Optical Diagnostics for Reacting and Non-Reacting Flows serves both as a launch pad for new students of optical diagnostics seeking a “go to” book, and as a resource for the experienced diagnostician seeking to explore new techniques, or new applications of familiar techniques.

The Ben T. Zinn lab will play a leading role in a new NASA University Leadership Initiative (ULI) aimed at reducing the environmental impact of civil supersonic transport. Prof. Steinberg leads the 3-year $5.6M project, with Prof. Mazumdar and Dr. Tai (GT ASDL) as Co-PIs. Other project partners include MIT, Missouri S&T, Spelman College, Virginia Tech, Aerodyne Research Inc. and GE.
